Sergio Cusano tells us "When I arrived at the reserve I was surprised to see two boxes with a Strip-backed Bittern each. They had been taken from the suburban area the day before. One of them was in good health, the other one had an injured leg. (Above)

After taking photos with Roberto Guller and other photographers at the Nursery one of the personnel of the Raptor Rehabilitation Center decides to release one of the bitterns (photos below) at Canal Vaimonte. Everybody went to see how the bird was returned to nature. At firts it was immobile for some minutes examining hte place till it began to move very slowly and getting into the canal in sarch for a place to feed. We took photographs for half an hour and left. The injured bittern will stay at the center till it is fit to be released."
