We were on the southern side of the Coypu Pond, next to the Brasil Access when Ignacio Graciá spotted this grebe eating such a big frog. In a twinkling of an eye it put it right and swallowed it. The sequence, though photos were taken from fat, is impressive

A Pied-billed Grebe in nuptial plumage (black ring, black throat and white eyering) and calling. A typical behaviour during the breeding season. And now we know that it is not alone. Sally told us that she saw three individuals at Coipos calling and pursuing among them. Will they be the first to open the breeding season at this new Coypu Pond? This species used to breed here.
