These insects resemble morphologically lice so their name barklice. However they are not parasites. They live in humid places on leaves or bark of trees o in decaying matter. They feed on microflora such as algae, lichens, fungi, etc.
In the photo the same insect is seen in different stages of the development. They are six in total and they practically do not differentiate one stage from the other. They have the form of a small adult. In the last photo there is a light-coloured barklouse because it has recently become an adult. It still has to harden and take the final colour.

In these photos the barklice in different stages of the development. The light-coloured barklouse of the last photo has recently become an adult. It still has to harden and take the final colour.
