Cicada - Dorisiana drewseni

Order Hemiptera
Family Cicacidae
Cicadas are recognized by their monotonous song which preannounces a very hot day to come. This sound is produced in the stridulatory organ which is possessed only by the male and is used to attract the females. It is on both sides of the abdomen and has quitinous membranes. called timbals, which are made to vibrate and of air sacs which function like a resonance box and amplify the sound. Cicadas' eyes are very apart on the head and have four transparent wings. The front wings are big and cover the rear ones when the insect is at rest.
