Highly social. They move in groups in trees or on the ground. The cuculids are a family of the tropics. Nevertheless, the Guira guira has adapted to colder climate. To keep hot in winter they huddled up. When it is warm they raise back feathers to capture heat.

The Guira Cuckoo feeds on insects. When there are plenty of caterpillars they eat them ceaselessly. They also feed on frogs, small mammals, eggs and chicks. But they also eat remnants from the food stands.
