Miguel tells us that "I was at Costanera watching the Coypu Pond when I saw the rufescent tiger-heron with the snake in the bill. It was struggling a while. It seemed that at some point the tiger-heron held the snake's head tightly and the snake remained motionless. But when the snake got free it started struggling and attacked the tiger-heron. First I took the photos, then the video till the tiger-heron flew a bit farther. I think it changed its position because a cocoi heron got near (I imagined the heron wanted to grab the prey). I do not know whether the snake bit it, but the position of the snake called my attention. It seemed to be steady behind the bill. I also believe the tiger-heron secured the end of the snake with its leg. It gave me the impression that never did the rufescent tiger-heron feel threatened by the snake nor was he afraid of the snake's bites."
Andrés de Miguel detected this tanager which is far from its normal distribution. There was already another sighting in June 2018. On that occasion Simón found a female. Today a male is visiting us.
