New amphibian species
Andrés Sehinkman, who identified this frog, tells us it is typically found in flooded areas and lakes. It is common in Buenos Aires, Entre Ríos. Santa Fé, etc. It has very developed interdigital membranes on their hind limbs, typical of aquatic species.

Light morph. Simón and Ignacio saw this hawk which first quarrelled with caracaras and then with two Harris's hawks. Two silhouettes to bear in mind. Harris's hawk's wings are rounded and broad. White-tailed hawk's are wide at the base and pointed. Harris's hawk's tail is longer than that of the white-tailed.
New butterfly species
This species inhabits from the south of the United States to the north of Argentina. To have found it here far from its distribution range has been quite a surprise. And there was not only one, but four individuals. At first sight both the dorsal and ventral side of the wings look much more like the Gulf Fritillary Agraulis vanillae maculosa, a very common species here. But at a closer look we noticed that the orange colour was stronger, this individual was bigger and that it lacked the black dots. The genus

Both the yellow-billed teal and the spot-flanked gallinule were absent for a while. In the case of the spot-flanked gallinule there were many in the ponds and all of a sudden they disappeared.
Photos on top show the three jacana chicks from the nest detected by Amelia. They are more than three weeks old. The chick of the photo below belongs to the clutch which hatched at the beginning of February. They are more or less a month and a half older than the previous ones.
