A group of observers with a big telescope watched this sandpiper. Gustavo took these photos showing some distinctive characteristics which tell them apart from the the greater and the lesser yellowlegs.
We have got few records of this sandpiper. It is the smallest of the three. It has greenish legs and white eyering. The rump is split and the rest of the tail, barred.
Seven species in one photo. In the rear line from right to left: spot-flanked gallinule, male rosy-billed pochard, a male ringed teal, a white-faced whistling-duck and a fulvous whistling-duck and a yellow-billed teal. On the mound a female rosy-billed pochard and a male Brazilian teal behind and far on the left a yellow-billed teal. Below this yellow-billed teal a juvenile ringed teal. And a pair of ringed teals in the water
