The known distribution for this bird does not reach so far to the east. It is found in the northwest and center of Argentina to the northwest of Province of Buenos Aires.
When we discovered the juvenile tiger-heron it had already caught this aquatic snake Helicops infrataeniatus. It shook the snake several times but unsuccessfully. The snake was very long and coiled around the bill as they usually do. Unluckily it moved away with the snake and the end of the story remains unknown
At the entrance of the Viamonte Access we found a field flicker eating ants along with a green-barred woodpecker (not in the video). The we discovered a second flicker at the back. Ah! and a rufous hornero, too!

The canary is one of the commonest cage birds. Its song first made man adopt it as a pet. Then artificial selection altered the colour and the form, there being too many races at present. It was also successfully hibridized with other species of fringillids, the family it belongs to. The wild species it comes from is
Serinus canaria from the Canary and Madeira Islands.
Bird Survey by the COARecs - June 18th 2016 A great day to survey birds. It began a bit chilly but the sun made us warm up. The reserve was very quiet and very few people. We assume it was due to the holiday. The provisional result was 95 species. See what birds were surveyed. |

At 11 a.m. they were inactive with their bills tucked into their back in a resting position. By 2 p.m. they were active and by 6 p.m., bathing.
Carries a fish which does not attempt or want to eat. Perhaps a token?

At this time of the year few flowers may be seen in the reserve. One of them is the blue anise sage Salvia guaranitica, a native plant. and the hummingbird does not miss out the chance
