In April this photo was published under the name of Smooth-billed Ani, a species rarely seen at RECS. Some features cast doubt on the identification of this bird. Consultation with birders with a close knowledge of these two species and the evaluation of other pictures taken on the occasion confirmed this was a Greater Ani.
