In the first part it walks on the floating vegetation just like the jacana. When eating the apple snail we can see the gallinule does not tear off the fleshy part and eats it like the limpkin does. The snail stays inside and pecks at it bit by bit.

Very exposed either by the wall or across the pond it was on the alert for a morsel. It is to be noted the smooth swinging of the neck sideways, typical movement also observed in the whistling heron when hunting.
55 Snail Kites at the reserve - November 13th At 7:35 pm I saw that a flock of 55 kites landed at the reserve. They are flying very slowly from the north looking for a place to overnight. They landed behind the trees, which I assume is the Gull Pond. It was very dark so I had already put my camera away and I would not have had time to take it out since they landed half a minute later. Fire on the reserve November 10th 2015 At about 6 pm a fire broke out in near the coast at the Viamonte Access. Fire brigades, three ambulances and a rescue team took part in the operations. There were no injured or people affected by the fume. In view of this the reserve will be closed today Wednesday. Now Thursday has also been included. |

Teresa and Fabián tells us that this female was motionless on the ground by the road. Fabián stayed with her while Teresa went to Viamonte for help. They came immediately to pick it up. One of the girls hidrated the nightjar and said it had to be in shock. We hope it has recovered.
